{"id":1250,"date":"2016-09-08T20:56:37","date_gmt":"2016-09-08T19:56:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/demos.churchthemes.com\/exodus-sample\/?page_id=1250"},"modified":"2026-05-09T12:10:20","modified_gmt":"2026-05-09T11:10:20","slug":"what-to-expect","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/gck.org.uk\/?page_id=1250","title":{"rendered":"What To Expect On Sundays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>What happens in the meeting?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We begin altogether for a time of prayer and singing God\u2019s praise (using the best of both classic older hymns and newer songs).<\/li>\n<li>There is usually a short, all-age interactive teaching slot.<\/li>\n<li>After about 30 minutes, on most weeks, the children then go to creche (0-2s) or GCKids (3-11s) for age-appropriate Bible teaching and activities.\u00a0 Children are also very welcome to stay in the main meeting with their parents for the sermon. For 11 &#8211; 14s\u00a0 we usually have message sheets to help them follow along.<\/li>\n<li>A passage of the Bible is read and then a message from that passage is given.\u00a0 Usually we are working through a book of the Bible, passage by passage, week by week.<\/li>\n<li>After the message, there is a short time of response in song and prayer.<\/li>\n<li>The meeting usually lasts 60 &#8211; 70 minutes<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">.\u00a0 After which there are refreshments served.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once a month during the meeting we share in the Lord\u2019s Supper together.\u00a0 This is open to everyone who trusts Jesus as Saviour and is seeking to live with him as Lord of their life.\u00a0 If that\u2019s not you \u2013 then it\u2019s fine to let the bread and wine pass you by when they are served.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do I need to be a Christian to come along?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No! We welcome everyone. If you are wanting to discover what Christianity is all about, then there are different ways we can help you do that. Click <a href=\"https:\/\/gck.org.uk\/?page_id=1799\">here<\/a> for more details.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What should I wear?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no dress code.\u00a0 Come in your usual clothes!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where do I park?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is a large free parking area in front of Gosford Hill School. From there you\u2019ll see our banner on the gate and two people on the gate to welcome you and show you how to get to the school canteen where we meet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What time should I arrive?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We serve refreshments from 10:15am and the meeting starts at 10:30am\u00a0 \u2013 so feel free to come before 10:30am. It takes a few minutes to walk from the car park to the school canteen \u2013 so best to have parked by 10:20am.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do I have to give money?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We do not take up a collection in the meeting and there is no expectation for anyone to donate. If you do need to smoke or vape, we\u2019d appreciate it if this could be done beforehand or in the car park area before coming in.
